Tunes For Your Mood

By Asher

One thing that has always helped balance my mood is listening to music.

When I am stressed, I often listen to calming music to calm myself down.

There have also been times when I feel drained and helpless, and I immediately play hopeful songs and those sorts of negative feelings are reduced.

A friend told me once they were extremely sad because of the pressure from schoolwork, and they really felt like they needed to cry but couldn’t.

I told him to listen to some sad songs, and his tears started coming out, and after crying he felt better.

Empowering music is also played in protests or demonstrations. I have been to a peaceful protest and the upbeat music played inspired me to fight for social justice

Mental health issues can be the result of many factors, and although music may not be the most straightforward or direct way to solve these problems, you may just give it a try as a strategy for coping.

We created four playlists for you–one for crying, one for hope, one for calmness, and one with empowering beats to boost your mood.

We added songs each of us like, for each type of mood. You may listen to the different playlists corresponding to your mood and see what happens!
